Housing
Housing is available for singles, couples and couples
with children. Housing options include both on-campus housing
at Rollins College (i.e., dorms) and off-campus options
(hotel and apartments). Unlike CSU where singles and
couples without children are required to live on campus,
you will have the option of living wherever you want
(i.e., on or off campus). If you do not plan to bring
your car, consider on-campus housing.
There are five housing options:
- On-Campus (Dorm Room)
with a Meal Plan – On-campus housing
is available to singles and couples without children.
The rooms are air-conditioned and include two desks and
two single beds. Linens and towls are NOT provided. If
you are single, you will share a dorm room with another
IBS participant. If you live on campus you will not need
a car and will have convenient access to our computer
lab and IBS library (which will be in one of the dorms)
as well as a short walk to class. In addition, you will
not have to worry about cooking any of your own meals.
(Rollins has contracted with Marriott for their food
service. There are lots of choices at every meal and
the food is great.) Past IBS participants have found
meals to be a significant opportunity to connect with
other staff. You can chose from a meal plan that includes
one, two or three meals per day. For all four weeks of
IBS was $950 per person (1 meal per day), $1150 per person
(2 meals per day) or $1350 per person (3 meals per day).
(Although there is no requirement prohibiting families
from living on campus, we do not recommend this option
unless you don’t
mind having a child sleep in the same dorm room with
you.)
- On-Campus (Dorm) without
a Meal Plan – Same
as above minus the meal contract. This option costs $700
per person (in a double room) or $900 for a single room.
(Because there are no facilities in the dorm for preparing
food. We highly recommend the meal plan for the reasons
outlined above.)
- Off-Campus Studio Hotel
Room (Candlewood
Suites, Altamonte Springs) – This
would be a studio hotel room with a small kitchen (refrigerator,
microwave, dishes, etc.). This option is available
to everyone: singles (who want to share the room with
another single), married couples without children and
couples with children. The cost for this option for
all four weeks of IBS will be $750 per person (based
on double-occupancy). Although this represents the
most reasonably priced option, it is about 20 minutes
from campus. You will definitely need a car. (Note: A “studio” suite
has no separate bedroom. It is simply one large room.
It is not a good option for families)
- Off-Campus One-bedroom
Apartment – These are furnished
one-bedroom apartments less than two blocks from campus.
The cost for this option for all four weeks of IBS is
$800 per adult (kids are free). Because a limited availability
of apartments, families have first priority on all apartments.
(If you are single or married without children and would
like to be considered for an apartment, you may request
an apartment; however, it is quite likely we will only
have enough apartments for the families.)
- Off-Campus Two-bedroom
Apartment – These are furnished
two-bedroom apartments less than two blocks from campus.
The cost for this option for all four weeks of IBS wil
be $1100 per adult (kids are free). Priority will be
given to the largest families.
Childcare
Childcare will be available during the morning
class sessions, Monday through Friday during all four weeks
of IBS. contact us for more details.
