Are mothers with young children required to complete all three courses during the conference?

No. The role of mothers in the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ cannot be overstated. As a result, we ask mothers to participate in the same vital theological training that all New Staff receive. However, in light of our commitment to the family and the workload these courses require, moms will have a reduced workload. Moms will only be required to attend and complete, for credit, Intro to Christian Theologyand New Testament Survey. This is intended to free up time in the afternoon to accommodate the family. Moms are still required to complete Bible Study Methods but they can take that class when they return to IBS in the future.

Can I be exempt from any of the NST courses if I have taken theological courses previously?

Yes. To be exempt from Intro to Christian Theology and Bible Study Methods, you must have completed an equivalent graduate-levelcourse. To be exempt from New Testament Survey, you need to have completed either an undergraduate or graduate New Testament Survey course. See the “Course Exemptions” page for more information.

What do I do if I think I might be exempt from a course?

See the “Course Exemptions” page for detailed instructions.

How much homework is there?

You can expect to spend at least 2 hours of outside work per class per day, plus some extra time for the group projects.

Can I “audit” these courses?

No. In order to fulfill your theological development requirements, you must do the work for the courses.

What do I do if I need to miss a class?

If you think you may need to miss a class, you must contact the NST program director, NewStaffTraining@uscm.org, in order to receive permission. In your email please outline in detail the reason you are requesting to miss class, when you hope to leave and return.

What if I have additional questions?

If you have additional questions about the theological courses at New Staff Training, email your question to ibs.info@uscm.org. If you have questions about the New Staff Training Conference, send an email to NewStaffTraining@uscm.org.
